Standard Appointments
To make an appointment for any of our branches, please ring 08 8821 3133 between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm. If you require an appointment that is not urgent, we recommended you ring after 10:00am.
If all available appointments are full and your problem may be urgent, the receptionist will transfer your call to a nurse to triage and assess when you need to be seen.
A standard appointment is 15 minutes long. If you think require more time please mention this to the receptionist and double appointment can be made. Do not be afraid to write down a list of problems you would like to discuss with your doctor, in this way you will not forget to ask your doctor anything.
Medicals
We can provide for a wide range of medicals at our Kadina Surgery. When you ring to book in for a medical you will be asked to speak with a nurse who will book your appointmentl and inform you of the length and the cost involved. All medicals are considered as being a private account and unless your employer has made prior arrangements with the General Manager, full payment is required on the day.
Medicals that we provide include aviation, truck, bus, taxi, pre-employment, diving, volunteer and immigration. Medicals vary in price, please ask about costs when booking your appointment. Due to Government regulations, medicals are not able to be bulk billed.
Ordinary car licence medicals only require a standard appointment with your usual doctor.
Obstetrics
Kadina Medical Associates have three doctors that do Private and Public deliveries at the Wallaroo Hospital, Dr Graham Morris, Dr Shauna Hoogland and Dr Tim Wood
We do not routinely bulk bill for pregnancy related visits although we do offer concessions for holders of current concession cards. For a concession patient, an antenatal consult is $71.00 and for non-concession patients $76.00. However if you are having trouble with payments please speak with your Doctor.
If you have private health insurance (excluding BUPA members (SGIC, Mutual Community, MBF, HBA )) our practice offers a "No Gap" fee policy. as long as your policy covers you for obstetrics, we will only charge the fee recommended by your health fund. This means that for routine births, you will not have any out of pocket expenses from doctors at this practice.
Please be aware that other expenses may be incurred during your pregnancy such as Obstetric Ultrasound and Antenatal CTG's.
Doctors will always see their obstetric patients whenever possible, please let the receptionists know when making your appointment that it is pregnancy related.
Anaesthetics
Kadina Medical Associates have three doctors that do Private and Public Anaesthetics at the Wallaroo Hospital, Dr John Blue, Dr Fazil Junejo and Dr Yen Koh.
If you have private health insurance (excluding BUPA members) our practice offers a "No Gap" fee policy. as long as your policy covers you for surgical procedures, we will only charge the fee recommended by your health fund. This means that for routine operations, you will not have any out of pocket expenses from doctors at this practice.
Health Assessments
There are a variety of free government sponsored health assessments available which involve firstly discussing any issues with a Registered Nurse and then with your doctor. Not everyone is eligible, so check with a nurse first. Currently there is a 4 year old health check, a 45-49 year old health check, a chronic disease care plan and an over 75 year old health check amongst others.
Acupuncture
Dr Graham Morris has an interest in acupuncture. If you are interested in being treated by acupuncture, please make a standard appointment with Dr Morris to discuss this.
Immunisations
Many Immunistions are available including childhood schedule, adult & travel. Influenza vaccinations available in season and are generally free to people aged over 65.
Ultrasound & Interferential Treatments
Ultrasound treatments are available on discussion with doctor, is often used to treat musculo skeletal pain and administered in 3 session treatments. Bulk billed for concession card holders & repeat treatments are bulk billed for non-concession card holders.
Ear Syringe
Ear syringes are available, it is preferred that patients requiring this treatment firstly discuss the use of wax softening drops with one of our nurses. This will make the procedure easier to perform and more comfortable for the patient. Treatments will be billed as a standard consult.
Spirometry (Lung Function Test)
Spirometry is a tool your doctor may use to diagnose asthma and other respiratory conditions. Will often be used as part of a pre-anaesthetic check or pre-employment medical. Bulk billed for concession card holders & $28.15 for non-concession card holders.
Echocardiogram (ECG)
Echocardiograms are a important tool in the diagnosis of heart related conditions. A quick, painless procedure. Bulk billed for concession card holders & $40.10 for non-concession card holders.
Audiogram
Audiograms tests your hearing function, often for pre-employment medicals or may be used by your doctor if you complain of a level of deafness. Our facilities are not suitable for testing the hearing of children and workers compensation related claims. Bulk billed for concession card holders & $45.40 for non-concession card holders.
Dressings
We a have wide range of dressings available for acute and chronic wounds of up to date products. Our nurses will assess your wound and apply the appropriate treatment in consultation with your doctor. Bulk billed for concession card holders & repeat treatments are bulk billed for non-concession card holders.
Fibre Glass plasters attract a fee and are not bulk billed.
Blood Tests
We have group bookings 9:00am on Tuesdays and Thursdays for those who require routine and fasting blood tests, this service is bulk billed for all patients .
If these times do not suit you, IMVS have a clinic within our practice that it is open from 0830 to 1230 Monday to Friday (no bookings required) ,or the IMVS lab at Wallaroo Hospital is open Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm and can take your blood at any time with no booking required.
If you see a doctor and requires blood taken urgently this will be done by a nurse immediatly following your appointment.
If you require an INR blood test you will need to make an appointment with your usual Doctor.
Excisions & Biopsys
We have the services to provide excisions, biopsy and other treatments, please speak with your doctor if you require a treatment.
If you require or an excision or biopsy the nurses will book your appointment for a mutually agreeable time for yourself, your doctor and treatment room.
We have a fully equipped theatre area enabling us to perform removal of small skin lesions, as well as performing minor procedures such as wedge resection of toe nails. Dr Wood also performs vasectomies and circumcisions at our clinic.
Holter Monitor
Holter monitor machines are available for hire. from the nurses at a cost of $22 which is non refundable from Medicare.
Your GP or Cardiologist may request 24 hour monitoring of your heart. This involves being connected to a monitor, with the recordings forwarded to Adelaide Cardiology for interpretation. The results are then sent to your referring doctor. Whilst connection to the monitor takes approximately 30 minutes, you are then able to go about your daily routine without too much interference. You cannot shower or bathe whilst the monitor is in use.
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Machine
Ambulatory blood pressure machinces are available for hire from the nurses at a cost of $40 which is non refundable from Medicare.
Ambulatory blood pressure machines are the best way to accurately record a patients blood pressure as it will record every 30 minutes during the day, and hourly overnight. It requires that you do not shower or bathe whilst the monitor is in use.
Drug Screen
Drug screening test are available as an instant result assessment, or alternatively specimens may be sent for laboratory analysis.
Drug screening tests will cost to $75.00 and are not refundable from medicare.
